Opthalmo and Birthday celebration

Bleh i hate it that i'm always blogging abt school stuff, made me sound so no life and then it juz struck me that i indeed does have no life outside of medicine... sighz..

Anyway i shan't blog much abt opthalmo except that i really quite enjoyed the posting even though i STILL can't master direct opthalmoscopy despite looking at all of our cg mates' eyes and at least 10 other dilated eyes this week (they say it will come out for MBBS yikes).

But i must admit that opthalmo at S*EC is really an eye-opening experience for me. It opened my eyes to the opulence and shiok lifestyle of our opthalmologists... On the first day, when we were brought around the place, our eyes got bigger and bigger as we took in the very nice staff lounge with a plasma tv and TWO massage chairs (one of which is i-symphony) and TWO osim i-squeeze and many nice chairs and tables complete with coffee machine and TWO fridges. And there were also TWO very nice rooftop gardens where we can have our lunches.

We also spent alot of time on the osim i-symphony, it was so shiok that after a lovely ten minutes on it, i felt very relaxed and at peace with the world. I swear, i shall get myself one of those things when i make my first 100000 bucks. Btw, one costs around 7k.

We had a lecture at one of the meeting rooms there and there was a HUGE plasma tv screen on the wall, next to several paintings and sculptures. And our powerpoint slides were projected on the screen itself! I didn't even know you can do that.

Oh anyway, the rumours abt the pretty girls ARE true......

And here are some photos of us celebrating our dearest Opthalmology rep birthday, which we spent days planning and went to great lengths to keep it a surprise until WQ had to spoil it all by saying very matter-of-factly to SC "there is a cake" just seconds before Fay could get the cake from the fridge.

We took quite a long time getting the cake ready, firstly cos there were too many candles to put (sorry, joke joke!!), and then, the air con in the lounge is too strong so the matches kept blowing themselves out, and our dearest Wk very best-ly brought like FIVE matches so under "survivor-esque" conditions, I had to light the extra candle to light the candles on the cake, and succeeded in getting wax on the cake.

And you see SC looking abit bored there... or is he actually asleep???

Finally he saw the cake... And i think he got abit hungry cos while i was trying to coax Fay and WQ to give the bdae boy a kiss on each cheek simultaneously, our bdae boy very hurriedly made his wish and blew out the candles before WQ could take the classic bdae photo of the candle blowing.

wah our bdae boy look quite good here sia.. but of cos the cake looks better Posted by Picasa
btw, the cake is latte cake from Island Creamery. Must give credit where credit is due. Thanks to Wk cos the latte is really quite nice, and thanks to yours truly cos it's my idea to go Island Creamery. (btw, i want the teh tarik ice-cream cake for my birthday k)

I didn't realise Fay went around taking candid shots of us till.......

"how to keep the knife ah?" Posted by Picasa
In the end, Wk wrapped up her chopping knife in a plastic bag and stuffed it in her bag... and we all came up with different scenarios as how she can scare the patients with it: "Uncle, can i examine your eyes??" reaches for opthalmoscope in pocket and knife drops out onto floor, scrambles frantically to pick it up and hide it... (ZH acted this extremely well).

the cake was really good.... Posted by Picasa

Those plates are special plates you see there cos WQ put them in the freezer so that they would be chilled.
