*I'm sooooooo sian in derm. Maybe i'm not cut out to have such a slack and stress-free life.*
Day two in Vietnam started very early because we joined the local tour to Mekong Delta, but luckily lazy bums that we are, we each paid an extra USD1 to have a coach pick us frm our hotel at 7.30am. But even so, we only had time to rush thru our morning ritual and then rush down to the guys' room to eat cereal and yoghurt for breakfast. After that, is a short wait at the tour agent itself [the hotel pick-up is a 2min drive to the travel agent -_-"] Followed by a THREE hour drive to the Mekong River, where we all very quickly fell asleep on the bus. I was the last to fall asleep again, and the tour guide came over to ask me where I'm from, and told me that he initially thought I was Vietnamese. Must be Wk's fault again, dragged me down by association.
We finally arrived at this very rural town and walked through that to the jetty and onto our motorised boat cruise. There was another tour that offers a rowboat cruise but we all quickly vetoed it.
Here's my self-portrait shot of us on the boat, quite professionally taken right:
Here's Wq's self-portrait shot, I must say it's not too bad, for a guy:

Some scenes of the Mekong River, "reflecting the tranquil village life of the people":
We even saw their 'river bus', actually it was just a normal sized rowboat sampan with a motor but there were close 30 people on it! Practically the whole boat is submerged in water and there was one guy in charge of bailing water out with a cup.
The Mekong Delta is supposed to be bustling with activity filled with people selling and buying produce, but sadly we went too late so all we saw were these:
Rambutans
Papayas
I remembered from our sec1 and 2 half-asleep geography days [I didn't remember much of the syllabus, just remembered that our geography teacher had scary huge eyes and a divergent squint that somehow gave the impression that she was looking at you even though it doesnt seem like it. Very scary.] that a delta is a triangular shaped piece of ?land, ?river, aiyah just know that it's triangular. So i happily asked the guys to give us an impromptu geography lesson, and Wq did quite a good job smoking something abt the river joining the sea, but i forgot what he said again. [geography is just not for me lar, even though both my parents were geography majors in uni.] But i did remember that the soil from a delta is supposed to be very good for farming. And i guess their main produce is rice. Because of the many many rice products they make:
We saw how u make rice paper, just pour the rice water over the basket like thingy and make concentric circles, amazing eh.. What's more amazing is that the plain rice paper they let us try tasted really good, or maybe it's because we didn't have breakfast.
We also saw how you make rice crispies candy, where you fry rice in a pan and the rice pop like popcorn and immediately it is stirred into malt and 2 guys had to dance around the pot of mixture such that they stir at equal intervals. Sounds delicious? It is.
Gorging on free rice krispies and coconut candy:

Our restaurant for lunch is hidden somewhere along this small river:
At our toilet break stop, another 1.5hrs of bus ride to go, which explains why everyone looks so sian:

A glimpse of the horrible traffic, this is just one of the many roads we have to cross:
We had seafood dinner again, which consists of a huge crab, some snails, a HUGE fish and veg, and drinks, came up to a total of $32. It was so ridiculously cheap that we all had incredulous smiles when we saw the bill and the guys said that we will be 'kan3' if we keep doing that, so we made a big show, complaining and slamming our fists on the table, abt being unhappy with the price..
Nightlife in Vietnam, where every night we'll go to the supermarket here and buy groceries and eat ice-cream at the food court:
We then decided that this cannot do and walked into a pub with a very nice ambience:
I ordered Baileys, i guess this is what you get for S$5:
Wk is very amused:

yh and his msg rimmed margarita:
Nice interior of the pup. They say I look like a big sister bringing her kid brother out to drink. I look older than 25 meh?????
We then went back to crash. I guess this night is a huge improvement from last night. Last night we went back to the hotel so early that the staff there ask what we're doing back so early and tried to get us to go bowling....... But in the end we ended u in the hotel room eating apples, doing an ortho examination on Wq's leg (he has an acute lateral collateral) and playing office scandal (which we thought wasnt very fun, but then again I wasn't under the influence of alcohol, just apple.)
