I was kind of hoping that no one would notice that i've stopped blogging abt europe. But you guys have to appeal to my better nature by begging me to continue writing. How abt if you guys help me write for some of the days? I shan't ask wk cos she'd definitely demand payment.
The fourth day is venice day! And we were all quite excited as it's a supposedly romantic city and i suppose we're all secretly scouting for honeymoon destinations (joke!).
Judy was talking abt how various impt organisations are spending millions to prevent venice from sinking. I had a mental image of venice disappearing into the sea in a wave of bubbles (like in the cartoons) while the impt people swim around it trying to pull it up. So i said in all innocence, "sounds like a sight to behold. I want to be around to see venice sink." P immediately let out an anguished wail and, while i look at her in shock, said, "oh no! You've said it, no matter how much money they spent, there's no hope for venice." haha.
We were dropped at the dock for abit of shopping before we board the ferry to venice. And to my delight, we saw David again! Or shall we say a 'part' of David. I'm to shy to specify exactly which part but it was printed on a pair of boxers so i think you get the idea.
SOME people, i won't mention who, wanted to buy me that for my birthday. I was utterly disgusted of course. I shall also mention here that the Wen sisters bought two pairs of said boxers and till now still haven't let me take a photo of it.
We then boarded the ferry. My first glimpse of venice left a deep impact on me, it really looks very pretty and quaint. Something else that looks pretty is the shuai ge wx and i saw who helped us up n down the ferry. Sigh, these italian men really know how to treat their women.
Venice really does have a romantic air about her, with people lounging in the cafes and beautiful architecture. I like the pigeons in St Mark's square best, they're rather... exciting. I was rather amused with someone's irrational fear of pigeons. That someone maintained an iron grip around my arm the whole time n we had to walk in formation arnd her, waving our arms at regular intervals.
We then went to a glass factory and saw a pretty cool glass blowing demonstration.
But the highlight of the day was the gondola ride! We were there at the dock and wx immediately pointed out one particular gondolier, and everyone, even wk, agreed that he was shuai. I personally thought that he's damn shuai (oh i miss him so). So we sort of hung arnd w fingers crossed but Judy had to point us to a particularly old gondolier. Disappointed, i was going to resign to fate, but P, being a more proactive woman, tiptoed to Judy and whispered not-very-softly, "can we have THAT one?" Judy let out a loud laugh and announced to everybody our intention. The sweet uncles told us to be careful 'not to get hooked'. The busybody Raymond (P's good friend) told us this kind of gondolier will 'push us off the boat one'. Man, i was embarrassed but happy. Red-faced and grinning goofily, we got onto the gondola to cries of "have fun girls".
How do Italian men get so good looking?
The first thing we did was to take tons of photos. We then chorused "ciao" to him and dissolved into fits of giggles. I think that sort of tipped him off that we had an ulterior motive for being there. We kept trying to make conversation, i even asked him to sing for us. He was pretty unresponsive we could only get his name, fabian. i think he felt sexually harrassed. I gave up after awhile but SM persevered but to no avail. We then proceeded to do more things which furthered scared him. There's this belief that if couples kiss under the bridge, they would stay tog. And so we did. Fake one of course. So you can imagine with all these happening we were making a WHOLE lot of noise. And that wk actually had the cheek to shout to the couples in front to kiss under the bridge. I dunno where to put my face i tell you. So i pretended to stare up at the sky as we pass them and caused several people to stare up too wondering what the hell i'm staring at.
All in all, it was really great in Venice, i would certainly miss it when it sinks (oops i did it again!). And thanks you guys for dreaming up the perfect honeymoon trip for me: in a boat with my loved one, sipping on champagne and looking at the romantic sight of Venice sinking.
