I got dragged by my dad to go to a wedding dinner just now.. His reason being "if you dun go, you'll never see a wedding as grand as that again" and "each table cost $1600 leh!", so for the sake of an eye-opening experience, i grudgingly went.
Well, my dad was right. It IS probably the grandest wedding dinner i'll ever see, unless of course, i marry the owner of Citibank or smth. The decorations and flowers were fantastic, i wanted to take photos but was afraid to look shua gu.. My dad got insider information that the flowers on the red table alone cost $500! [He's on close terms with the groom's family] And there was a live band with wedding singers.. so cool, i din know wedding singers exist in Singapore. I shall hire some for my wedding (maybe i'll force some of my frens to sing).
Oh just so you know, it's not that my dad has friends in high places, it's just that the bride is the daughter of a super huge franchise, a big name that even i have heard of. Among the distinguished guests invited is the Minister of Community Development, some other minister, a few members of parliaments and a lot of other big shots and rich folks. I know this because everytime somebody makes a speech, he has to address these big shots at the start. Even the groom leh.. which is quite sad rite.. shld address ur parents and elders first mah.
Anyway, there were also quite a number of doctors in the groom's family, and once in a while when i go for their family gatherings everyone would ask me, "so are you specialising or are you cough&cold" Sheez.. talk abt pressure man...
This time, they purple-ly put me at the table with this surgeon couple [both consultants at SGH, dun think you'll know]. One look at them and you can tell that they're what greg would call "SFC" material. I would not explain exactly what's SFC but let's just say they're more Aburauff than Prof Lau. In fact, my suspicions were confirmed when the guy immediately asked me if he had shouted at me before and then told me solemnly that he scolds all medical students. Then he started asking me abt my opinions on the medical school system and how it could be better.
So naturally, i got rather nervous and subconsciously drank copious amounts of red wine, which i'm sure you all know, made me very, very sleepy.
So sorry guys, instead of surreptitiously asking questions abt MBBS, i was just making stilted conversation like "isn't tat Jack Neo?" Yes, Jack-freaking-Neo was there. I also saw the monk who does stunts on tv every year for charity. And the fish guy who always appear on tv came and toasted us. And my dad claimed he saw Fann Wong, but errr i really dun think so lar.
Sigh.. the end result of the dinner is that i went home close to 12 midnight, too sleepy to do anything but blog and blogsurf and now i'm going to sleep..
I really, reaaaaaaallllyyyy should be studying.
