My 2nd last day of freedom

I’ve been feeling increasingly down, depressed, sad, irritated, frustrated, angry that we have to start school on Friday whereas the rest of nus starts on Tuesday. Thus, I made Liang take a day off to pei me. Why didn’t I ask him to pei me on Thursday? Well my dad wanted me to stay at home to shou1 shi2 xing1 qing2, whatever that means.

Since we dun really spend a lot of weekdays together, naturally I wanted to do all those things that we were too cheap-skate (eg. ktv, buffets) or too crowd-phobic (eg. ice-skating, kite flying) to do during weekends.

So first we met up for breakfast. He insisted since I usually refuse to inflict early waking hours on myself. Then we went to jurong entertainment center for some singing. And whoo it was cheap!!! 4 hours of singing plus drinks plus nasi lemak (dun ask me why) and we only paid $12 in all! Well actually to be honest we were only supposed to sing for 3 hrs but they conveniently forgot abt us so of cos we went on singing and singing and singing… We felt abit guilty in e end so we left them 30cents as tips. Then we were supposed to go ice-skating but I got cold feet at the last minute (pardon e pun). I’ve got a phobia of e blade. This was instilled in me by my mum who said that when you fall people would skate over your fingers, thus leaving you sans digits. I told him abt this and adoringly, he laughed in my face.

So we ended up eating at no.2 (a name given to a hawker center there by ex-colleagues) to relive our Robot Zoo days. Actually I wanted to eat buffet but I guess a girl’s gotta keep such unseemly desires to herself. After slacking about the Jurong east library (a fantastic place to mug in case you’re into that kinda thing) I sent him off and took the train back to Jurong Point to meet my two guitar buddies.

We had a great feast and laugh fest at Swenson’s. The desserts were great! We ordered topless five (because chris was amused with the description) and this scrumptious apple crumble. The waiter brought it out to our table before pouring the apples and sauce so ‘sizzle sizzle’ it went. Everyone stared at us and we basked in the glory of our apple crumble. It was so dramatic I took a photo of it.

The conversation was amusing although we were rudely interrupted by numerous broadcasting of ‘Happy Birthday’. The first time we looked around vividly like comic characters in a cartoon. The second time we decided that it was the manager’s birthday and he wanted to make sure his staff got the message. By the fifth time we figured out that they put on ‘Happy Birthday’ whenever someone order Firehouse. But all in all, I had quite a fulfilling 2nd last day of freedom.
